Apocalypse's Teacher - Chapter 54
Chapter 54
I Have a Dream (2)
***
A pristine, white sketchbook.
T h i s w as c op ied fro m k i n g mt l . o rg
Colorful markers.
And a girl full of dreams.
All the ingredients needed to create a comic.
“Alright, Dabin. Draw whatever you want.”
Dabin nodded.
Her face carried a serious expression.
I watched her with a satisfied smile.
‘With her imagination, she’s bound to enjoy this.’
Drawing comics was the perfect way to keep Dabin busy without interrupting Dayoon’s studies.
It was a brilliant idea, even if I say so myself.
After all, Dabin had a great mind and focus.
Even without a knack for studying, she surely had the potential to channel her concentration into something else.
‘Artistic talent is a gift.’
Dabin might have a hidden talent for the arts, and even if she didn’t, as long as she enjoyed it, that was enough.
In any case, art lessons would be beneficial for Dabin.
Swish.
Dabin picked up a pen.
She placed it on the sketchbook.
And so, the thrilling battle between the Space Police and the Robot Dinosaurs began.

“Did Dabin draw this?”
Jinwoo’s bright laughter filled the room.

Dabin, shoulders squared, nodded.
I watched the scene with a face full of emotion.
“Isn’t it well-drawn?”
“Yes! Dabin, you have a talent for drawing. It’s much better than the webtoons I used to read!”
It might not be that amazing, but Jinwoo had a talent for lifting people up.
A blush spread across Dabin’s cheeks.
Jinwoo chuckled and patted her head.
“It’s fun. Will you show me the next chapter too?”
“Yes!”

Dabin ran back to me with the sketchbook.
“Let’s go!”
“Huh?”
“I want to show it to my sister too!”
Dabin’s eyes sparkled.
Her raised shoulders showed just how high her spirits were.
Could it be that she intended to show her comic to everyone in the penthouse?
“I want to show it to everyone!”
My guess was correct.
I nodded with an awkward smile.
Thus began Dabin’s promotion of her work.
The comic passed from a proud Ki-hyun to an overly enthusiastic Hyesung, then to the old man who had trouble seeing, and finally reached Helen….
“Oh-! Mecha Saurus! Yeah~!”
It rekindled her childhood innocence.

Dabin swallowed nervously.
Her gaze was fixed on Dayoon, who was reading a book somewhere.
What was this situation?
“Are you nervous?”
“…A little.”
It was the moment Dabin was to show her comic to her favorite person, Dayoon.
The reason she was last was simple.
She wanted to show only the best to Dayoon.
That’s why she had been so mindful of everyone else’s reactions.
I patted Dabin’s shoulder.
She swallowed hard and slowly approached Dayoon.
Dayoon looked up.
“Sister?”
“Dayoon! Look at this!”
Dabin, like she was handing over a love letter, presented the sketchbook with both hands.
Dayoon tilted her head.
“What is it?”
“A comic!”
With that shout, she lifted her head.
Her face showed a mix of tension and excitement as she added.
“I drew it!”
Dayoon’s eyes lit up.
A blush appeared on her cheeks.
There was no doubt she was impressed.
Reaching out slowly, Dayoon took the sketchbook.
“Is this for me to see?”
“Yes!”
Dayoon’s face began to show joy.
“Thank you….”
Her shy, head-drooped demeanor brought a smile to my face.
I watched with my arms crossed, thoroughly enjoying the heartwarming scene.
‘How heartwarming!’
It reminded me of the old days.
Back in elementary school, didn’t every class have at least one student who drew comics in their sketchbook to show to others?
If the world hadn’t ended, Dabin probably would have grown up to be one of those kids.
That’s what this scene felt like.
Dabin and Dayoon huddled together over the sketchbook, giggling as they chatted.
Seeing that Dayoon enjoyed it, I felt a sense of relief and scratched my nose.
“But sister.”
“Yes?”
“This part is wrong.”
Suddenly, Dayoon began to point out mistakes.
Dabin’s face turned blank.
Dayoon innocently placed her finger on the sketchbook and said.
“It’s not ‘forgive in the name of justice’; it’s ‘forgive’.”
It was a grammar correction.
Cold sweat ran down my back.
“And here, it’s not ‘okay,’ it’s….”
Ah, was it my mistake for not giving Dabin more Korean lessons?
‘…No.’
It might have been something we could overlook.
After all, it was a comic made by her beloved twin sister.
I realized.
‘Dayoon is….’
T h i s was co p i e d fro m k i n g mtl . o r g
A grammar nazi.
And.
“In space, there’s no sound. So here, where the Space Police and Robot Dinosaurs are fighting, there shouldn’t be sound effects.”
Th i s w as co p i e d f r o m k i ng m tl . o r g
An asperger.
I closed my eyes tightly.
‘I’m sorry, Dabin!’
Next time, I’ll proofread it for you!

Despite Dayoon’s ruthless corrections, Dabin’s mood was still good.
Not for any other reason.
-Show me the next one….
That one phrase Dayoon said after all her corrections moved Dabin deeply.
Filled with enthusiasm, Dabin immediately went to draw the next chapter.
No, to plan it.
T his w a s c o p i e d f r o m k in gm tl . o r g
The desire to do better.
The desire for more people to like it.
And the desire to receive praise.
The desires that every creator harbors began to awaken within Dabin.
Dabin pondered.
‘This won’t do.’
T hi s w a s c o p ied f rom ki n g m t l .o r g
She wanted to create a richer, more amazing story.
So Dabin began her research.
T h is w a s co p i e d f r om k ing m t l. o r g
“Dabin?”
The first target was Jinwoo.
Dabin asked.
“Oppa! What kind of comic do you like?”
Jinwoo was the first reader of her comic and the first to praise it.
That’s why Dabin wanted to include Jinwoo’s preferences in her comic.
Jinwoo flinched.
The kind of comic Jinwoo liked.
The only comic he read now was something Dabin shouldn’t know about, hidden in the depths.
Cold sweat dripped from Jinwoo as he met Dabin’s eager gaze.
Jinwoo’s lips quivered.
“Well….”
He shouldn’t lie.
His little sister was coming to him so sincerely, and lying would be too cruel.
But telling the truth was too embarrassing.
Caught in a dilemma, Jinwoo finally closed his eyes tightly and did his best.
“A comic with cute animals….”
He mumbled.
Jinwoo’s cheeks turned red, but Dabin didn’t notice.
She simply nodded enthusiastically, taking his words at face value.
“Okay! Cute animals!”
Oppa likes cute animals.
Dabin etched that into her mind.
Leaving Jinwoo, Dabin then sought out Ki-hyun.
“Hmm… I think it would be fun if there was a singer who plays guitar and sings.”
Ki-hyun made this suggestion while brushing Dabin’s hair.
Dabin took it to heart and found Hyesung next.
Hyesung’s wish was within Dabin’s expectations.
“Kong-kong! Space Kong-kong!”
With an excited face, Hyesung chanted for Space Kong-kong.
Dabin beamed with satisfaction and then sought out Chun-bae.
“A comic with a family would be nice. Yes, a warm place where the family gathers and hugs each other. That would be good.”
Taking Chun-bae’s words to heart, Dabin then went to Helen.
“Ninja. Ninja is the best. Eliminate everyone.”
“Ninja?”
“Ninja is strong. Fucking awesome.”
It was coarse language that would have earned her a smack from Seokho, but fortunately, Dabin didn’t understand English.
All the opinions were now gathered.
Dabin began to ponder over the collected data.
‘Animals. Singer. Space Kong-kong. Family. Ninja.’
Her plan was complete.
Dabin started drawing her comic.
***
It was a sea of fire.
A large cabin was burning, and inside, the Robot Dinosaur family was trembling.
[Happy~ We are~ All friends~!]
Two muscular rabbits strummed guitars and sang.
Floating behind them was a spaceship shaped like a kidney bean.
It was a scene where the rabbit brothers were cruelly tormenting the Robot Dinosaur family.
Suddenly, an unexpected event occurred.
[Slice-!]
A flash of light appeared out of nowhere and swept through them.
The heads of the rabbit brothers fell off.
The one who beheaded them was none other than….
[Target eliminated.]
…A ninja space cop.
He formed hand signs with both hands and looked at the cabin.
Then he spoke.
[Massacre, commence.]
Drawing his sword again, he massacred the dinosaur family inside the cabin.
Dumbstruck by this indescribable comic, I gazed at Dabin.
“…Dabin?”
“Yes!”
Dabin’s eyes sparkled.

She was eagerly waiting for me to praise her.
I felt my heart sink.
‘Praise?’
Should I praise her?
Would my praise be harmful to Dabin?
I pondered briefly but found no answer.

In the end, I chose to escape.
‘Yes, B-grade vibe! This is a B-grade vibe!’
I reassured myself that Dabin was a skilled comic artist adept at handling B-grade vibes, and said.
“It’s so refreshing! Ninja space cop is awesome!”
Dabin’s face lit up with a bright smile.
…Maybe this is good enough.
