Damn Academy - Chapter 221
Chapter 221
Four Swords (2)
The memory of when the Enchant Sword shattered flashed through my mind.
I was so startled that I kicked off the blanket and ran straight to the swords.
Grabbing the sapling, it reverted to its wooden sword form as if nothing had happened.
I checked the condition of the Magic Sword. Fortunately, there were no cracks or other abnormalities.
Trisha quietly came up beside me and watched.
“What’s the new one?”
“A Magic Sword I got by chance.”
“Why are they fighting?”
“I’d like to know that too.”
The Magic Sword shimmered faintly, as if groaning in pain. Gone was its fierce demeanor from yesterday, now it looked pitiful.
“Can I touch it too?”
“It’s dangerous, so no. Stay here.”
It’s a good thing the Magic Sword is tough; otherwise, it might have ended up like the Enchant Sword, which I couldn’t even get a chance to use before it was destroyed.
Why is this wooden sword behaving this way? Does it absorb any magical item it comes across? The Magic Sword seems quite temperamental too, yet it’s just taking this.
I took only the wooden sword and stepped outside the dormitory. I went down to the foggy courtyard and planted the wooden sword in the ground.
Trisha peeked her head out from the front gate, watching.
“What are you doing?”
“Stay there.”
Swish…
The mist began to settle around me. Soon, the Magic Sword appeared in my right hand, glowing brilliantly.
I placed the Magic Sword and the wooden sword together in the ground and walked back up the dormitory steps.
Trisha, intrigued, called out.
T h is w a s copi e d f r om k i n gm t l . or g
“I want to touch it!”
“Absolutely not. You could become mentally incapacitated.”
Given her immense magical power from before, it was unlikely to be an issue, but I still wanted to be cautious.
“What does ‘mentally incapacitated’ mean?”
“…”
I pushed Trisha back inside and closed the door. She banged on the door, shouting.
“Hey! I knew that! I was just joking!”
Ignoring her for a moment, I kept watching the wooden sword and the Magic Sword. Soon, something strange happened.
The wooden sword transformed into a sapling and began moving on the ground, as if avoiding the Magic Sword beside it.
Once it distanced itself from the Magic Sword, it reverted to its wooden sword form.
“Huh.”
What did I just see?
Trisha opened the door and peeked her head out again.
T h i s w a s co p ie d f r o m k i ng m t l. o r g
“What are you doing? What are you trying to do?”
“Look at that.”
“Huh? Did you move the sapling sword?”
T hi s w a s c o pie d f ro m k i n g m t l . o r g
“No, it moved on its own.”
If the wooden sword were merely a plant that absorbs magic, it would have tried to absorb the Magic Sword’s power too.
The fact that it moves on its own to avoid harm is… quite shocking. It’s not just a tool reacting to stimuli; it has its own intent.
“It must be bullying the weak one. I knew it. I trust the Firefly Sword the most. I don’t like the wooden sword or the new one you brought.”
“A sword is just a sword.”
Moreover, neither this Magic Sword nor the other is a pushover.
“That wooden sword hates me.”
“How do you know?”
“Women’s intuition!”
“…”
“Where did that wooden sword come from?”
“I don’t know.”
“Idiot. You don’t know anything.”
Now I want to know too. What on earth is its origin? Whom should I ask to find out?
I now understand why the previous owner got rid of the wooden sword without asking for anything in return. While it’s useful to me and I have some attachment to it, it must have been a troublesome, magic-devouring nuisance to others.
***
Eventually, I completely isolated the wooden sword and the new Magic Sword.
After that, I made breakfast for Trisha and headed out for my first class.
“See you later!”
Trisha, who had no morning classes, waved from the doorway with her face peeking out.
“Oh, Damian!”
As I was leaving, Trisha called out to me. She came down the entrance steps barefoot in her pajamas and handed me a note.
“I forgot. The librarian who moved you yesterday told me to give you this.”
“Thanks.”
“Have lunch with me later!”
With that, Trisha ran back into the dormitory.
The note was brief.
[After your daily tasks, bring your sword and come to the Forbidden Forest gravesite.]
It didn’t say who wrote it, but I had a good guess. No one else would call for me other than the old professor I met yesterday.
Seeing that he wanted me to bring my sword, it was probably a lesson. I’m actually looking forward to learning something meaningful.
As I left the maze, another friend greeted me.
Luna, standing in front of the guardian tree, waved at me.
“Luna?”
T h i s w as c o p i ed f r o m k i n gm t l. o r g
“Hi.”
She naturally joined me and walked with me.
“Have you been waiting for me?”
“Yes.”
“Do you have something to say?”
“No… I just wanted to walk to school with you.”
Actually, it doesn’t take that long to walk from the guardian tree to the campus. Unless there’s something urgent, there’s no reason to come all the way here to walk with someone.
Well, girls have different ways of spending time with friends, so I didn’t dig further.
I suddenly remembered yesterday and asked her.
“Did you know everything yesterday? About Cecil and the Magic Sword Hunter.”
She shook her head.
“Not to that extent… I only saw that you and Cecil would be safe.”
“…Still, your advice helped. I’ll ask you again if I need it.”
Luna lowered her head deeply.
“It’s becoming less frequent… and less accurate.”
“I’m curious. Do you see it like a vision?”
“Yes. It’s very blurry. It only shows things related to me, so it won’t be much help.”
“…I see. What class do you have, Luna? I’ll walk you there.”
Luna looked at me and smiled shyly, shaking her head.
“No… you must still be feeling unwell, so I’ll walk you to the Art Club.”
“…What?”
“Our Damian… needs to attend class and not get sidetracked.”
Luna grabbed my sleeve and led the way.
“…”
Luna’s behavior was oddly like a teacher taking care of a child. Did something change in her mindset? Why is she acting like this?
Luna did indeed walk me all the way to the Art Club greenhouse, waving goodbye before leaving.
As I sat in front of my easel in the greenhouse, it finally felt like life was returning to normal.
In a corner of the empty greenhouse, Lilith was watering the plants. She saw me and awkwardly waved.
“…”
I’m gaining more friends. The more I take care of others, the more others take care of me in return.
Lilith seemed to want to say something to me, slowly approaching.
But suddenly, someone roughly kicked open the greenhouse door. Lilith was startled and spun around.
“Hey, newbie!”
“Newbie, come here!”
The Art Club seniors, Haley and Jenia, barged in like ruffians from the slums.
Jenia came toward me, and Haley approached Lilith aggressively.
Jenia wrapped her arms around my waist.
“…?”
“Oh, my dear!”
She tried to lift me like playing with a child but couldn’t manage it due to her small stature and lack of strength.
Haley, being taller and from the combat club, easily picked up Lilith and spun her around.
“Eek!”
“Where did these precious gems come from!”
Jenia struggled in vain and eventually gave up.
“Ugh, why are you so heavy? Just let me kiss your cheek.”
“…”
As Jenia tugged at my collar, muttering to herself, Haley was already planting a kiss on Lilith’s cheek.
“Oh, you’re so cute!”
“Eek…”
Lilith covered her face, letting out a half-crying sound from embarrassment.
“Senior, is something good happening?”
“No, just let me kiss your cheek.”
Haley, still holding Lilith, came over and said,
“We’re going to Claridyum!”
I was curious about the final results, but it seems the Art Club won after all.
“They say the newbies thrashed the Drama Club seniors?”
“Yeah, somehow we beat them. What about you two?”
First and second-year students had separate missions from third and fourth-year students. If I remember correctly, the club with the highest combined scores would win.
“Us? We trashed them all. The fourth-years were too busy to join the mission, so we ruled. I like winning, but I love seeing those piggy faces in despair even more! Eek!”
Haley grabbed Lilith’s arm and jumped around like they were dancing. At times like this, she seemed more like a mountain girl than a senior.
Jenia was still muttering to herself, tugging at my clothes.
“Cheek… cheek…”
Haley handed me an official Eternia document.
“Our newbie did something big.”
I checked the document and saw a different story from what I had experienced.
T h i s wa s c o p i e d f ro m k ing mt l . o r g
While it issued a stern warning for violating the recall order, there was no punishment. The Art Club received the highest score for uncovering the truth behind the disappearances in Shin Tagma and submitting the villain’s notebook.
I wondered what Gale and Victor would think about this. They must have agreed internally to issue such a document. Considering their temperaments, they probably wouldn’t object.
However, it bothered me to receive the reward alone. I believed both Victor and Gale deserved recognition.
And I didn’t really want to go to Claridyum.
I just wanted to learn something from the new visiting professor quickly. If I left for a long time, I’d miss the opportunity to learn.
Haley handed the document back to me and said,
“Alright, give me a kiss!”

Haley grabbed me and gave me a surprise kiss on the cheek. I was caught off guard.

“Why did we play rock-paper-scissors then?”

Cecil had been waiting in front of the fountain at the living quarters since early morning.
Holding an invitation to an artists’ gathering behind her back, she paced back and forth in the same spot.
Every time someone came out of Witthrush Hall, she would turn her head to check.
When it wasn’t the person she was expecting, Cecil sighed deeply.
“When will he come out…”
More and more students left the dormitories for their morning classes, but the person Cecil was waiting for never showed up.

“Is Damian still sick?”
She bit her lip and muttered to herself.
“He always passes by here. Is he avoiding me? No, no, the mood was good then… he couldn’t be avoiding me…”
Tired of her own thoughts, she eventually sat down on the edge of the fountain and sighed.
“Sigh.”
Then she lowered her head and whispered to herself.
“I miss you…”
