I Obtained Sword God Level Talent - Chapter 1
They say humans are creatures of adaptation. Never has that saying felt so distant as today.
“Cough!”
“Hey, Frey. Are you alright?”
A dry cough escaped.
The cause was obvious. A pungent stench, unsanitary surroundings.
The middle-aged man wore a worried expression.
I slowly shook my head.
“I’m alright.”
“Don’t push yourself.”
“…Yes.”
Hans, the middle-aged man I met in this filthy prison, let out a small sigh.
“It’s important not to lose hope. The rescue team will come soon.”
Hans offered a rice ball. A rice ball with not a single grain of consideration for humanity. It didn’t look edible even as a joke.
Growl!
“Damn it.”
A physical reaction different from my thoughts. Annoyed, I buried my face in my knees, where I was sitting.
Three days have passed since I woke up in an unknown world, an unknown space.
From the first day until now, it’s been a series of incomprehensible events.
The place I woke up in was a prison. The crude bars of the window and the interior walls made of woven wood looked to be in poor condition.
The problem is that I don’t even have the strength to escape from this crude prison. Or rather, to be precise, it’s like I don’t know how to use my strength.
“Damn game.”
“What was that?”
“…Just thinking out loud. You eat it, Uncle Hans.”
Hans immediately gave me a worried look at my meaningless muttering.
Regardless of what he did, I kept thinking with my face buried.
‘I’m not crazy.’
Over the past few days, I’ve accurately grasped the situation.
This isn’t modern-day Earth. I recalled the orcs who came once a day to inspect the prison. Probably anyone in their right mind would realize that this place is different from modern-day Earth.
‘Silver Ring? What’s certain is that this is a world I don’t know.’
According to Hans’s explanation of why I was captured here and what the orcs wanted.
‘This is a world inside a game. I’m a rookie mercenary who was captured while on a subjugation mission.’
Thud!
I struck the inner wall of the prison with my head still buried. My aching hand, tearfully, represented the current reality. What’s the point of being the symbol of a ranker, the owner of the Conqueror title?
I can’t even get out of this damn prison.
I slowly lifted my head and glanced around.

Just three days ago, there were a few more men in the prison. But the damn orcs captured and took them away.
Thanks to that, only a small number of people, trembling with fear, remained in the prison.
‘They said they were taken to the processing plant.’
Processing plant.
I recalled the words of the men who were imprisoned with me. I deduced the situation from the information I was given.
“Meat processing plant.”
That reminded me of a rather horrifying fact.
From what I remember, orcs ate meat. The problem is, however, that they don’t eat the meat of ordinary livestock, but the meat of all living things.
Is that why….
The orcs kidnapped other races. It’s their way of enjoying fresh meat.
‘Absolutely not.’
My body trembled involuntarily.
I remembered one of the orcs who had scanned the prisoners with greedy eyes in the morning. Didn’t he lick his lips as if he quite liked me?
“Escape.”
I uttered the somewhat awkward sound.
Rather than quietly becoming the orcs’ prey here, the thought was to at least attempt an escape.
I retraced my memory, recalling the actions I took in front of the computer.
Traits.
What I created was a character with countless added traits that boasted overwhelming performance.
As it happens…….

I lost consciousness as soon as the game started. Fortunately or unfortunately, I became that character. This is the judgment I made thanks to the ‘Calm’ trait I benefited from on the first day.
And that means I might be able to exert even more strength than I thought.
‘Hand-to-hand combat is dangerous. For safety, I need a weapon, a sword.’

Faced with the threat, I decided to struggle for survival.

Most of the added traits are mythical grade, possessed by Silver Ring’s powerful NPCs, the Transcendent Ones.
A good example is a trait that literally maximizes talent for the sword.
The problem is that I don’t have a sword. Most of the positive traits were also built faithfully to the ‘Return of the King’ concept.
“It’s too risky to gamble in this situation.”
It’s not that I didn’t consider escaping this place with bare hands. The problem is that the opponent is an orc.
Orcs are monsters around level 10. Although not visible, there’s probably a number 1 floating above my head right now, indicating my level.
Orcs are strong.
As the level and equipment improve, they get pushed out of the users’ interest, but they’re not called the Grim Reaper of the early stages for nothing.
They were so infamous that low-level players called them ‘Dorc’ instead of ‘Orc.’¹
‘Everyone, including myself, arming ourselves. That’s the only way.’
Orcs carry their weapons with them 24/7. That means the most dangerous moment is the easiest moment to escape.
Bang!
“Kyaaaak!”
While I was organizing my thoughts, a loud scream rang out.
I looked at the situation outside through a gap that was hardly a window. It’s a face I remember. It was the man who was dragged out in the morning.
“Kraaaa!”
The man was screaming naked. His whole body was covered in blue bruises, as if he had been beaten by orcs.
“You damn orcs! Do you think I’ll let you eat me quietly?!”
Many orcs gathered, alerted by the commotion. Despite his life being on the line, the man hurled vulgar insults at the orcs.
And.
Swish!
An orc appeared and, without hesitation, cut the man down with an axe.
A guy who was probably twice the size of the other orcs. He grinned at the man’s bisected corpse and then disappeared from the spot.
“…Damn it.”
Watching that scene, my legs gave way, and I slumped to the floor.
Thanks to the traits ‘Calm’ and ‘Clear-Headed,’ I didn’t feel any emotional turmoil.
T h i s w a s c o p i ed f r o m ki ng m tl. o r g
However, a sticky unpleasantness relentlessly bound my entire body.
***
The next morning. Recalling the scene of another man being dragged out, I thought.
Is an axe a sword?
Unfortunately, the answer was no. The trait I added was Sword God, not Axe God. It was the only trait I chose among the weapon proficiency category. My sword-loving tendencies had come back to bite me.
And that meant that the most effective weapon for surviving in this hell was a sword.
‘Damn it.’
When I created the character, I didn’t give a single thought to axes.
I never thought my thoughtless actions would come back to haunt me like this. Though called the king of all weapons by some, it’s an object despised by orcs.
For example, I haven’t seen an orc wielding a sword since I was imprisoned here.
That fact suggested that finding a sword within the orc camp would require a special method. Killing hundreds of orcs with bare hands was too much of a burden.
‘To find a sword……. I have to get out of this prison first.’
Fortunately, my current body is in good condition, with all limbs intact, but the problem is that I might be the one dragged out tomorrow.
I naturally felt impatient, but the impatience didn’t last long.
Even though the orc camp looks like a den of evil, I’m not an ordinary beginner. Who am I? I’m a guy packed with the power of traits.
As it happens, orcs have a habit of storing their plundered loot in their warehouse.
That means.
‘The warehouse, I have to find the warehouse.’
All sorts of thoughts ultimately converged into one.
The most effective way to overcome this situation.
The only hope of defeating the orcs and escaping with the others.
‘If I don’t move, I’ll die.’
It didn’t take long to make up my mind.
Hans said we were mercenaries hired by the Northern Expedition.
So waiting for the rescue team would also be an option. But the important fact is that the longer we hide in the prison, relying on luck, the lower our chances of survival become.
T h i s w a s c op ie d f ro m k i n g m t l . org
It’s not that the courage in my dormant heart suddenly sprang up.
It’s just that, after coldly assessing the situation, I’ve finally found the justification to act.
‘Isn’t this too risky a gamble?’
I doubted myself countless times.
Am I just deluding myself? Wouldn’t my plan end up killing even more people?
In the foul and humid environment, I brought my face close to the small hole that resembled a window. It was incredibly suffocating. I did it because I felt like my chest would burst if I didn’t do something like this.
“No.”
I pulled my head back and said out loud.
Even if I woke up inside a game, this isn’t a game anymore. It’s reality.
When I die like in a game, it’s not the character that dies, but me. Clearly, acting seemed to offer a higher chance of survival than staying put.
“Youngest.”
“Hmm?”
“Haha. You had a face full of deep thought.”
“Ah, it’s nothing.”
Hans smiled cheerfully, inappropriate for the situation. He then came and sat next to me. After a moment of silence, Hans spoke with difficulty.
“I know you’re of noble birth, unlike us. You tried to hide it, but it shows.”
“…”
“You must have your reasons. But this is for sure. You’re the youngest of our Oak Mercenary Corps, our brother, our family.”
A warm voice. His words were difficult for me to understand. Far from being of noble birth, I’m just someone who lived on Earth.
“Don’t worry. We won’t let you die.”
I was speechless at Hans’s blind reassurance.
To put it bluntly, their camaraderie is simply unfamiliar. There’s no reason for me to feel any particular emotion.
Creak! Thud!
Just as I was about to reply to Hans. Suddenly, the prison door swung open violently, and a red-skinned giant appeared.
“Orc…!”
Not only Hans, with whom I was conversing, but also the faces of the other men remaining in the prison turned deathly pale.
They come once a day. They take one man from the prison. So we thought they wouldn’t come anymore today….
It’s a dark time of day. It didn’t look like a visit with good intentions. Moreover, it was the orc who had been eyeing me.
Thud, thud!
“Click!”
With a terrifying sound, the orc immediately started walking.
“W-We can’t let them take the youngest!”
The orc’s intentions were clear. Seeing the orc’s gleaming eyes, Hans blocked his way.
“Uncle!”
Hans, whose only means of resistance against the orc was his weak human body.
He was brave, but reckless.
Wham!
“Ugh!”
The orc’s large fist smashed into Hans’s abdomen.
“Urgh!”
Was the impact greater than he imagined?
Hans staggered back a few steps and retched.
Thump! Thwack!
The orc’s subsequent kicks mercilessly trampled Hans.
“You bastard……!”
Hans’s body, which had confronted the orc barehanded, soon went limp. He was still conscious, but his hands trembled as if he had no strength left in them.
I glared at the orc with burning eyes.
“Tsk, tsk.”
Whether he knew my thoughts or not, the orc smirked.
‘What’s that?’
Regardless of what the orc did. In the midst of this urgent situation, I noticed a worn dagger hanging from the orc’s waist.
Opportunities don’t always come. This was not a crisis, but an opportunity for me, who had been preparing for escape at any moment.
Was it loot?
It was obviously too small for an orc to use. Yes, it’s an object used by humans, not orcs.
T h is w a s c o p ied f r o m k i n g m t l . o r g
‘Is a dagger a sword?’
There was no time to ponder the answer.
Whoosh!
T h is w a s c o pie d fr o m k i ng m t l . o rg
I immediately lowered my stance and charged at the orc.
The difference in strength was clear. It might have looked like a shoulder tackle, but my aim wasn’t to break his stance.
Tap!
“Screech!”
Perhaps the orc didn’t expect a mere piece of food to dare charge at him.
The orc’s eyes glowed red. And a large axe rose high.
Thud!
It wasn’t the orc who initiated the action.
I knew. Even though orcs are naturally born with immense strength, their agility doesn’t match it.
Rip!
I immediately tore the small scabbard from the orc’s waist and pulled out the dagger.

“Ah….”
[ Trait: Sword God ]
Grade: Mythical
Effect: All swordsmanship talent blossoms to its ultimate potential.
I could feel it once again.
This isn’t Earth, but a different world.
Information about the dagger flooded my mind.
The power to deal with the monster in front of me.
T h is wa s c o p i ed fr o m k i ngm t l .o rg
As I gripped the dagger, countless ways to handle the monster before me surged forth.
The dagger, having found a new owner, danced effortlessly in my hand.
Swish!
And, becoming a streak of light, it sliced through the orc’s shoulder.
¹The Korean text for this line is “오죽하면 저회차 플레이어들이 오크가 아닌 혐크라 불렀을까” for the most part i translate it literally, but changed the part of “혐크” (Hated/Disgusting-orc) into “Dorc” (Disgusting orc) i think it’s more fitting to the scene. Let me know in the comment if I should continue those or not
