I'm Not Your Dad, I'm a Villain - Chapter 11
Chapter 11
Cooperating with the Enemy (1)
***
Due to the nature of my ability, wounds from amputations heal very quickly.
It’s not like a bullet where foreign objects remain in the wound, nor do I have to regenerate large portions of my body as if it were shattered.
Thanks to that, I can move again even after a fight…
“Kuahahaha! Hahaha!!”
…Right, the problem is that there isn’t just one of them.
As I crossed the burning amusement park, laughter started to echo from all directions.
Judging from the multiple sources, it seemed to be a large group.
But right now, I have someone to protect.
“…Boss.”
Looking far into the distance, I saw the Ferris wheel standing tall, yet to collapse.
The Ferris wheel had stopped after the incident. Is the Boss still there?
I had been sitting on a nearby bench before losing consciousness… Damn, I had been blown far away by the explosion.
Though I should hurry, I couldn’t ignore the gazes around me.
I couldn’t reveal my abilities while trying to keep my identity hidden…
-Rustle.
…Ah, just what I needed.
I entered a collapsed bakery nearby and picked up a bread bag, poking holes in it.
To think I’d be putting a bread bag over my head again like during the bus terror attack.
Well, as long as my face is hidden, it doesn’t matter.
Unlike heroes, I only need to worry about efficiency, not appearances.
“There’s a survivor over there!”
“Kuhaha! Kill them! Kill everything you see!!”
Alright, they’re closing in.
I put the bread bag over my head and countered the killers rushing at me like before.
There was nothing to hesitate about.
I was a minion of the continent’s strongest and most notorious organization.
And they were pathetic rookies who couldn’t even touch the organization’s feet.
-Crack!
…Of course, that difference doesn’t make me immune to their attacks.
“Kuhaha! Rushing in like moths to a flame!”
“Let’s butcher him and…”
-Thud!
But as long as I don’t lose consciousness, it’s fine.
Grabbing the weapons embedded in my body, I used my super strength to lift them.
In an instant, I lifted the villains along with their weapons. They didn’t even struggle, assuming that someone with weapons stuck in them couldn’t fight back.
That momentary lapse of judgment was a perfect opportunity for me to attack.
“You bastard…”
-Pow!
With my super strength-enhanced fists, I punched their faces and chests, sending them flying.
One lost consciousness with a twisted jaw, the other died with a crushed chest…
Some were still alive, but I didn’t have time to worry about them now.
“…What’s with this guy? He uses super strength?”
I had barely cleaned the blood off my hands when I noticed shadows surrounding me, drawn by the earlier commotion.
“Isn’t he a regular citizen?”
“Seems like a regenerative Gift, huh?”
There were dozens of them.
Big guys, each holding lethal and refined weapons.
They belonged to a reasonably organized group, not just wandering villains who couldn’t get proper supplies.
But if they belonged to the same group, they’d usually have some uniformity in their attire. These guys were all over the place with their individuality.
“Who the hell are you guys?”
I asked, and their lips curled into dark smiles.
“Haha! Asking for our identity in this situation?”
“Heroes usually just slaughter villains without a word… But you seem curious before dying.”
“Of course, if you want to know, we should tell you. Ever heard of the Villain Alliance?”
One question brought a thousand answers.
But I could roughly guess who they were.
The Villain Alliance… They had appeared occasionally even when I was in the organization.
To accomplish what individual groups couldn’t, various villains would temporarily band together for operations.
But since villains inherently distrust each other, these alliances often ended badly.
Being inherently evil, it wasn’t uncommon for them to backstab each other to eliminate rivals or seize their interests during their mission.
These guys might face the same end, but that wasn’t the issue now.
“We’ve been aiming to fill the void left by Ouroboros, but the heroes keep meddling.”
“So we thought, let’s wipe them out first, and here we are.”
Ah, I see.
No matter how much villains hate each other, they all share heroes as common enemies.
Weakening the heroes’ influence would take priority over power struggles, so they formed an alliance and staged this attack to make a grand announcement.
In other words, their goal wasn’t a specific target or reward but pure destruction and slaughter in the heroes’ territory.
“Hah… What was the Hero Association doing before this mess erupted?”
I couldn’t help but laugh at the absurdity of the situation.
Not only did they allow such a massive attack in the heart of Hero Land, but they also failed to properly fortify the place.
Is this seriously the group that brought down the strongest organization I belonged to?
“So, what are you going to do?”
“Those guys you took down aren’t just scrubs. You must be a big deal to handle them.”
“Kuhaha! Maybe we can boost our reputation by killing him!”
“It’s a hunt, a hunt!!”
No, there’s something more urgent right now, so I’ll save the disappointment for later.
Thankfully, the Ferris wheel was still standing, and given its height, villains wouldn’t easily spot the upper levels.
Right now, my priority is to take down these vermin and rescue the Boss.
But can I pull that off in my current state?
What I need to do right now isn’t to annihilate them but to protect the Boss.
Unfortunately, while I have incredible vitality, I lack any effective tactics or destructive power against large groups.
-Crash, Boom!
And the villains’ terror attack on the amusement park was still ongoing.
If the situation isn’t contained soon, it’s only a matter of time before the Boss is endangered.
Somehow… I need a way to overcome this situation.
A way to take down all these guys and reach the Boss quickly…
-Swish!
Just as I was feeling desperate, a fierce wind howled through the villains about to charge at me.
Alert, I looked up, as did everyone else.
From the sky, a crimson liquid poured down.
-Thud!
Before I could identify the source of the metallic smell, a figure landed in the center of the scene.
A mangled human…
No, a blood-soaked corpse that had once been a human.
“Gurgle…”
The labored breathing sounded like a pig being slaughtered, but in its current state, it was just a lump of meat barely alive.
Was this the work of a villain?
No, judging by the clothes and appearance, it seemed more like a villain than a citizen.
In such a scenario, there’s only one possible answer.
“…A hero?”
Just as someone uttered those words.
-Crash!!
A brilliant light descended where I stood.
The ground cracked from the impact, and the severe tremors threatened to destabilize us.
Damn it, what now, a meteorite?
“Sigh…”
No, it wasn’t a meteorite but a person.
With a groan, a figure emerged from the glow, stomping on the mangled corpse.
Above the figure was a woman in a frilly, pink dress adorned with star-shaped accessories. The jewels on her head and ears sparkled with each movement.
A woman dressed like a ‘magical girl’ straight out of a children’s anime.
“You there with the bread bag.”
But her eyes held an oppressive gaze.
As I felt overwhelmed by her stare, something familiar began to surface from her appearance.
“Are you a villain too?”
Yes, I know this person.
***
Just five minutes earlier.
-Rumble, rumble.
As faint vibrations spread through the dressing room, a woman sleeping on the sofa was jolted awake by the impact, struggling to lift her head.
“Ugh, what’s going on?”
Busy with performances and signings lately, she had been quite occupied.
With limited time to sleep, her pre-performance rest was extremely important.
To have this precious rest interrupted… What time is it, anyway?
“What the… It’s past the performance time!? What’s the manager doing!?”
The dressing room was dark.
Checking the time on her still-functioning smartphone, she realized it was well past her scheduled performance time.
For someone who strictly adhered to her schedule, this was a serious lapse.
She wondered why the manager hadn’t woken her up, but that could be dealt with later.
“Is my makeup okay? My outfit… no problem, right?”
Wearing a fluttering pink dress with star-patterned accessories.
After confirming everything in a full-length mirror, she slapped her cheeks and hurried out of the dressing room.
Racing down the hallway, she arrived at Hero Land’s theater.
“Haha, sorry for being late, everyone! I’ll start the performance right now…”
-Crash.
Just as she stepped onto the stage, a sign fell, making her halt in shock.
The audience seats, which should have been crowded, were in ruins, stained with blood.
Not citizens, but corpses.
And beyond that, instead of cheers, pained screams echoed through the horrific scene.
“What. What happened here, why…”
A catastrophe that should never occur in Hero Land, a hero’s domain.
But this wasn’t a dream; it was reality.
“Oh! A survivor!!”
To emphasize that fact, a villain who had suddenly stormed the stage swung a steel hammer at her head.
-Clang!
The sound of metal clashing.
The resulting shudder indicated the impact wasn’t light.
Right, enough force to turn a person into a pulp.
The villain, reveling in his strength, laughed as he looked at his hammer.
“Kuhaha! Unlucky girl! To run into me, Morning Star…”
-Crack!
Before the words could finish, a cracking sound echoed.
Only then did his eyes, filled with glee, refocus to properly see what lay before him.
The body that should have flown away was standing firmly in place.
Her head, where the attack had landed, remained intact.
Instead, the shattered arms belonged to the villain holding the hammer, not the woman dressed as a magical girl.
