Magic Academy's Genius Blinker - Chapter 1
Chapter 1
Prologue
About ten years after a game is released, players become so skilled that they start exhibiting bizarre behaviors.
Around that time, with no new content, players begin doing strange things like trying to defeat bosses while wearing only underwear, or speedrunning dungeons, to the point of exhausting all available content.
The most extreme players even touch upon what is commonly known as ‘trash characters,’ which no one else dares to play…
That’s exactly the kind of player I am.
The game, ‘Aether World.’
Originally released as a female-oriented dating simulation game, it became uniquely popular among male players due to its splendid combat style and endless content, featuring an innumerable number of characters to play.
There were characters that were both easy to use and performed exceptionally well, and then there were characters with such extreme difficulties that even players with ten years of experience couldn’t handle them, performing terribly.
T h is w as c o p i ed f ro m k i ngm tl . o r g
That’s right.
I am the type of pervert who has been playing the character ‘Baek Yu-seol,’ a character with extreme difficulty, terrible performance, and more weaknesses than strengths, with no clear reason for existing, for ten years.
In the world of Aether World, where everything is made of magic and everyone can use it conveniently, Baek Yu-seol is the only character set to not use magic, making him not only unpopular but treated as a background extra with no presence.
Of course, Baek Yu-seol isn’t entirely incapable of using magic.
He can use just one spell, the ‘Blink’ spell.
The Blink spell, while fundamentally learnable by any mage, had such a long cooldown, massive mana consumption, and a staggering 2-second immobilization penalty after use that hardly anyone bothered using it.
Th is w a s c o p i ed f r o m k i n g m t l . o rg
Is that all?
The basic Blink teleports the user a ‘random’ distance between 3m and 10m, in a ‘random’ direction.
If you were unlucky, you could end up buried in the ground or stuck in a ceiling or wall, dying instantly.
So, Baek Yu-seol is a character that can’t use any other magic except for the abandoned trash skill ‘Blink.’
Th i s w a s cop i ed fro m kin gmt l . o r g
Of course, there is a merit to this.
Baek Yu-seol is set to have trained Blink to its extreme. He can adjust the direction to the front, fix the distance, and the 2-second immobilization is gone. Additionally, he doesn’t have a mana stat, so there’s no need to worry about mana consumption.
But that’s it.
Even with the improvements, Blink is still essentially a trash skill that can be used slightly better.
Since Blink is fundamentally a ‘very fast movement’ skill, failing to control distance and hitting a wall would result in death due to the immense speed and recoil.
In narrow places filled with enemies, he becomes almost useless.
For that reason, precise distance control becomes almost essential, but that control is not easy, naturally making him unpopular.
In a game where you can easily and quickly cast flashy spells, who would want to play a trash character that can only use Blink?
Many veteran players attempted, but all failed.
Yet, while everyone else gave up, I repeatedly practiced Blink and eventually mastered its control.
Realizing the characteristic of Blink’s fast movement, I learned to cancel the skill mid-use to adjust the distance.
Although it sounds easy, Blink completes its movement in 0.1 seconds, making it a control that anyone could not easily master.
Unlike other mage characters, this Blink-only character had to solve everything purely through control, and I became deeply engrossed in it.
I devoted most of my time to the ‘PVP’ content, fighting against other users.
Ten years passed like that.
[You have defeated the final boss ‘Black Night Thirteen Moon.’]
“Huh?”
I defeated a final boss I didn’t even know existed.
“What the heck?”
I was merely performing a sudden quest asking me to find the ‘female protagonist,’ who had suddenly gone missing, when out of nowhere, a grandly named black dragon appeared.
“Why is there a final boss?”
But was there even supposed to be a final boss in a female-oriented game? Wasn’t the usual ending getting married to one of the male protagonists?
“I’ve never seen a game like this before.”
Th i s w a s c op i e d f r o m ki ng m t l . o r g
Though I’ve been playing this game I first tried for ten years.
I thought it was odd that a boss I had never seen before took so long to defeat.
Fortunately, I was equipped with legendary to artifact-grade items and had maxed out stats, otherwise, I might have died despite my veteran status.
“What kind of monster is this?”
Black Dragon, Black Night Thirteen Moon (黑夜十三月).
Since it was the final boss, I skimmed through the story out of curiosity.
“Hmm…”
The story went like this:
In this world of wizards, a group called ‘Dark Mages,’ akin to a crazy cult, was hiding all over the place. Their ultimate goal was to turn the world into the ‘Persona Gate,’ an underworld.
Th i s w a s c o p i ed f r o m k in g mt l .o r g
And when the Dark Mages finally covered the world with the Persona Gate, the Black Dragon appeared.
I wasn’t interested in the story and didn’t care what the NPCs were doing, just enjoying my alchemy, so I had no idea such things were happening.
“Wow. The world setting is completely wrecked.”
Looking at the map, 90% of the continent was swallowed by the Persona Gate and was in ruins. The game’s main setting, ‘Stella Academy,’ was intact but the atmosphere was bleak, painted in red.
I had no idea because I was busy fighting other players on the PVP integrated server.
I wondered what the reaction would be if I posted a screenshot, so I logged into the Aether World community for the first time in a while, and what do you know.
The few remaining players were posting like crazy after a long time.
[Title: Ah this trash game suddenly introduces something called Black Dragon and wipes all game data.]
[Title: What’s with the Black Dragon? It says my character is dead and I can’t log in.]
[Title: Wow, I logged in because it’s hot on SNS and my character is deleted? What’s going on?]
The community was full of posts from people who had returned after a long time to find their characters deleted.

“What the…”
Apparently, the final boss didn’t just appear for me, meaning the Black Dragon appeared simultaneously in all game data?
“That’s quite something.”
But there was one strange thing. No matter how much I searched the board, there was no post about someone defeating the Black Dragon.
Even though I was decked out in ancient artifact-grade items, I was still just a trash character. There were many players who had developed properly overpowered characters that were on par with or stronger than mine.
The Black Dragon should have been killed dozens of times.
Then, I saw a post from a famous veteran player, and my eyes widened.
[Title: Guys, this boss wasn’t meant to be defeated, right?]
[Content: The Black Dragon has a ‘99% magic resistance’ passive, absorbs magic infinitely without cooldown, and repeats magical discharge infinitely. How are we supposed to defeat it? It’s a bug monster… We need to report this.]
Th i s w a s c o p i e d f r o m k i n g mtl .o r g
“Oh, right, it did have those.”
Sure, having magic immunity in a magic world might be a little unfair.
But it was different for me. Since Blink was just a movement skill, I had no choice but to learn weapon skills.
In other words, I was the only player in the game who had raised physical attack power instead of magical attack power, making me the only one to succeed in hunting the Black Dragon.
Th i s w a s c o pi e d f ro m k i n gmtl.o rg
“Wow. Am I really the only one who defeated it?”
Excitedly, I immediately prepared to post in the community with the title [Black Dragon Solo. Proof jpg], attaching a screenshot.
Bzzzzzーー
“Uh, uh…”
Suddenly, a ringing noise drowned out the world, draining all the strength from my body, and the world started spinning.
[Due to reaching an incorrect ending, 90% of Aether World has been destroyed.]
‘What… what is this…’
The ceiling seemed so distant.

My vision narrowed.
Everything in this world felt far away.
[However, you are the player closest to reaching the ‘true ending.’]
‘I need to boast about defeating the Black Dragon…’
A bizarre voice echoed in my ear, but it felt strangely far away.

[Please, reach the true ending.]
The world went black.
