Magic Academy's Genius Blinker - Chapter 3
Chapter 3
Blink (2)
The sensation of a pulsating blood vessel was vividly felt at Baek Yu-seol’s fingertips.
Baek Yu-seol locked eyes with the magic archer he had killed with his own hands.
There wasn’t any guilt about the first kill. No, there wasn’t even time to feel it.
He killed to survive, that was all.
“What, what’s with this guy! Is that really Blink?!”
The warrior, who seemed to be the leader, shouted, seeing Baek Yu-seol’s quick movements.
“He’s using some unusual movement technique! Hurry up and kill him!”
The Blink cooldown hadn’t reset yet. Baek Yu-seol kicked the archer’s corpse, sending it flying.
Thud! Splat!
“Ugh!”
T h i s w as co pi e d f r o m k i n g m t l . o r g
The blood splattering from the corpse obstructed the vision of the approaching enemies, and one of them even tripped over the body.
Rolling on the ground, Baek Yu-seol picked up the archer’s arrow and used Blink to teleport to an upper diagonal tree branch.
Thunk!
It was his first time using Blink upwards, and the sudden distance control confused him, causing him to miss the branch and slip.
Barely grabbing the branch with one hand and pulling himself up with surprisingly strong shoulder and back muscles, he managed to lift his body onto the tree.
Without time to string the arrow, he quickly hid behind the tree trunk as a fireball came crashing into it.
Boom!
Though the explosion shaved off a large portion of the tree, the fire didn’t catch on due to the recent snowfall making the tree damp.
Creak–
Baek Yu-seol strung the arrow and used Blink to move to another branch, then aimed and shot at the clumsy spearman chasing his afterimage.
Thunk!
“Ahh! My foot, ugh!”
‘Missed.’
The arrow hit the foot instead of the intended target. Despite the magical ‘aim assist’ on the arrows in this world, Baek Yu-seol had never shot an arrow before in his life.
Hitting the foot was purely luck.
‘Still, he’s incapacitated. Next.’
Another fireball came flying, but Baek Yu-seol leaped off the tree without hesitation.
“That…!”
It was quite a height, and he risked breaking bones if he fell incorrectly.
The enemy standing where he would land raised his arms to brace for impact, but Baek Yu-seol drove his knife between the gaps of those raised arms.
Thunk!
The noise was more of a clash than a stab. Just before hitting the ground, Baek Yu-seol used Blink to stabilize himself upright.
One unique aspect of Blink.
The momentum just before using Blink is preserved.
“Hup!”

Facing the wizard casting a spell, he took a deep breath and braced for impact.
Bam!
“Fire Be… urgh!”
‘Guh…’
He gasped for breath, rolling on the ground, sensing the whirlpool of mana.
It was his first time feeling mana, but Baek Yu-seol instinctively understood due to the situation.
‘Magic Rebound!’
When a spell-casting fails, a rebound occurs, causing an explosion that injures the caster according to the spell’s level.
In the game, the caster would suffer alone, but what about in reality?
Thinking that far, he curled up as much as possible.
Boom-!
Caught in a small explosion, he rolled to disperse the shock.
“Cough…!”
Either the wizard’s level was low, or the rebound explosion was minor, but it was close enough to scorch his skin slightly.
Suppressing the stinging pain, he coughed forcefully, his senses tingling as an arrow whizzed past his head, embedding into a nearby tree.
“Heh, what a peculiar fellow.”
Only two pursuers remained: one fully armored warrior and one magic archer. Both were exposed, so aiming for their vital points seemed possible.
Baek Yu-seol gripped his dagger and stood up, while the warrior smirked.
“Your reaction speed is ghostly. And you use an unusual magic. Who are you?”
His reaction speed was quicker than most professional gamers, making him a frequent guest on special broadcasts.
He even won first place in a world competition testing reaction speeds with clicks.
But no matter how great, no human can dodge an arrow, especially one fired at close range without looking.

“A seasoned wizard might understand due to heightened ‘senses’… but you’re just an idiot who can’t even use magic. I don’t get it. Care to explain before you die?”
Mana Leakage Syndrome heightened every human sense but was practically useless in a magical society, although it granted extraordinary physical abilities.
Baek Yu-seol had no intention of explaining, and the warrior, sensing this, chuckled.
“Alright then, let’s see if you can move swiftly with that injured body.”
A taunt. Baek Yu-seol, being somewhat childish, often responded to such provocations.
“…Do you have any potions?”
“I have one for myself.”
“Great.”
As he extended the dagger, the warrior took a stance.
“I’m going to kill you and take it, so don’t lose it.”
[Blink]
As Baek Yu-seol’s body blurred, the warrior raised his shield to cover his neck and face.
‘I’ve already figured out how you use Blink!’
Baek Yu-seol always stopped after using Blink and swung his dagger, never carrying the momentum of Blink.
His dagger wasn’t particularly threatening.
The armor covered the rest, so protecting the face and neck was all that mattered.
And another thing.
Baek Yu-seol always approached from the front using Blink.
Thinking this, the warrior stomped the ground hard while raising his shield.
‘Wave Break!’
Immediately, the ground in front cracked in a fan shape, shaking the earth.
Crack!!
“Got you, bastard!”
A basic 1st class spell that disrupts an enemy’s stance within a certain range!

It’s enough to bind the opponent’s movements.
“Die!”
Confident that Baek Yu-seol was stunned, the warrior swung his large two-handed sword.
“…Huh?”
Baek Yu-seol has ten years of PVP experience.
Though this was his first real fight, he was more than familiar with ‘magic battles.’
Wouldn’t he have encountered enemies who couldn’t keep up with his Blink and laid wide-area skills in front?
‘…Behind!’
Baek Yu-seol had already moved behind the warrior and was swinging his dagger at the archer’s neck.
However, the archer quickly rolled on the ground, avoiding the attack, and fired multiple arrows at Baek Yu-seol.
Thwip! Thwip!
“Ugh!”
If only he had consecutive Blink, he could easily ignore such counters, but that was impossible now.
Baek Yu-seol had no choice but to roll on the ground to dodge the arrows.
When he hastily looked up, the warrior was approaching, bringing down his enormous two-handed sword.
Quickly rolling back and rising to face the opposite direction, Baek Yu-seol saw the warrior giving up the chase and shouting.
“He’s blinking that way!”
T h i s wa s c o p ied fr o m k i n g m t l . o r g
They had realized something. Baek Yu-seol’s Blink always went in the direction he was facing.
But.
The very thought of using Blink was a fake.
Using the momentum from turning his body, he spun and kicked, causing the warrior to raise his elbow in surprise.
Bam!
“Ugh!”
“Argh…!”
The elbow barely guarded against the kick, and the armor’s impact cracked his shin, causing searing pain.
But while the warrior staggered, Baek Yu-seol used Blink.
[Blink]
The archer, predicting Baek Yu-seol would Blink far away, fired a shot in that direction but was stunned by his sudden approach and leaped back in panic.
However, aiming the crossbow delayed his reaction.
Thud!
Baek Yu-seol’s dagger successfully pierced the archer’s neck.
“Gah, ack, urgh…”
Thud!
“Argh…”
After the archer collapsed, Baek Yu-seol also fell to his knees, unable to endure the pain in his shin.
“Damn it…”
It hurt. It hurt so badly it brought tears.
But he gritted his teeth, enduring the pain.
Turning slowly, he saw the warrior glaring at him with fierce eyes.
“Just a moment ago, you were running away like a scared little mouse who had never fought before, and now your demeanor has changed?”
“…That was just then. Thanks for helping me gain experience.”
A game played with a keyboard and mouse is different from reality.
That point was driven home.
And it made the fact that this place was reality even more tangible.
“Now, you’re alone. What will you do? If you plan to wait for the two lagging behind to join you and attack me at once, forget it.
Those guys are slacking off down there.”
The warrior’s eyebrow twitched.
“Those bastards…”
“They probably thought five people would be enough to catch me. Who would have thought you’d get handled so pathetically?”
In truth, this was a lie. Baek Yu-seol had no idea what those guys were doing.
He just said it to undermine the opponent’s morale.
But instead of losing morale, the warrior raised his two-handed sword.
‘Damn it.’
His leg bone was nearly broken, making it hard to move freely.
Relying solely on Blink for mobility had too many limitations.
Hiding the leg injury, he aimed the dagger at the warrior’s neck, who raised his shield defensively.
…Meanwhile, Baek Yu-seol was honestly impressed by the warrior’s ability to manage his expression.
T h i s w a s c op i ed fr o m k i n gm t l . o rg
‘He’s probably trusting the guy pretending to be unconscious behind me.’
Earlier, Baek Yu-seol had seen the spearman, who he had hit in the Achilles tendon with a stray arrow, writhing on the ground.
The spearman wasn’t dead or unconscious.
T h i s w a s c o p ie d f r o m k in g m t l . o rg
Thanks to Mana Leakage Syndrome, Baek Yu-seol’s heightened senses clearly felt the spearman’s presence.
Lying on the ground with a spear gripped tightly, the spearman was only 3 meters away.
If Baek Yu-seol got a bit closer, the spearman could stab him in an instant.
‘What should I do…’
Should I throw the dagger to subdue him?
No, that’s not an option.
Throwing away my only weapon without a guarantee of a kill is too risky.
Didn’t I realize when shooting the arrow? My skills with weapons are rudimentary at best.
Using Blink to kill the spearman is also risky.
The warrior is only 5 meters away.
If I Blink behind the spearman and kill him, the warrior will close the distance immediately.
There’s no need for him to cover the full 8 meters.
The warrior has earth-shaking magic, even if its range is short.
‘Blinking to kill the spearman is not an option.’
Having thought it through, he acted according to a calculated plan.
Lowering his stance, pretending to charge the warrior, he slightly stepped back.
This brought him closer to the spearman behind.
But the spear didn’t move yet. Though the spear’s tip was within reach, the spearman was waiting for a more certain moment.
T hi s w a s c op i ed f r om k in g mt l . o r g
However, the perfect opportunity would never come for the spearman.
“Hup!”
As Baek Yu-seol spun broadly, the warrior reacted instantly, flinching with his shield, but Baek Yu-seol didn’t use Blink.
He dashed backward, gripping his dagger with both hands, and stabbed the spearman lying on the ground.
Thunk!!
Instant death without even a death cry.
Immediately, Baek Yu-seol seized the spear from the spearman and retreated.
The warrior, now closing the distance, raised his shield again.
With Blink still available, the warrior couldn’t approach easily.
“You…!”
The warrior started to speak, but Baek Yu-seol didn’t give him a chance to think, throwing his dagger.
Aiming precisely at the warrior’s heart.
Of course, the warrior easily deflected the dagger with his shield.
But what mattered was what Baek Yu-seol did next.
He faced the warrior’s side, spinning the spear as if about to sweep it widely.
As if he intended to Blink to the warrior’s rear.
By now, the warrior had made his decision.
‘…I see. He plans to Blink to my side, after luring me to defend the front with the dagger.’
The warrior swung his shield behind him, certain that Baek Yu-seol would be there.
Whoosh!
“…What?”
But,
There was nothing behind him.
Because Baek Yu-seol had anticipated this and really aimed for the front this time.
‘Damn it!’
The warrior turned back urgently, but it was too late.
The spearhead had already reached his throat.
Thunk!!
