Magic Academy's Genius Blinker - Chapter 4
Chapter 4
Admission (1)
Thud! As the warrior collapsed to the ground, I also slumped down.
“Huff, huff…”
My hands were trembling uncontrollably. It wasn’t just the fear of death; I had never pushed myself to such extreme situations before.
First battle, first Blink, first kill.
The delayed pain from the broken shin bone surged through me, and the five corpses scattered around reminded me that I had become a different person.
This is reality, and I am Baek Yu-seol, the Blink mage.
And I killed them all to survive.
Unable to bear the pain in my shin, I hurried to rummage through the warrior’s pockets without being swept by any emotional turmoil.
Fortunately, there was a potion.
As I swallowed it, a sharp bitterness overwhelmed me, causing me to gag. The first taste of a potion was bitter and sweet.
Taking out another potion, I poured it over my shin, feeling the pain gradually subside. It seemed to be the ‘analgesic’ effect of the potion.
T h i s was c o p i e d f ro m k i n g m t l . or g
Though it didn’t heal immediately due to being a cheap potion, it was enough for now.
“…I’m alive.”
Relief finally washed over me, and the tension loosened. I realized now that my legs were shaking terribly.
‘I need to get out of here…’
As I slowly stood up, I noticed that the corpses all had pockets. Being a penniless beggar with little money, I had to be realistic.
The saying that bloodstained money is disgusting means nothing to someone who has no money.
I rummaged through the pursuers’ pockets, gathering useful items and putting them in my backpack.
I managed to find quite a bit of cash, approximately 2 million credits. In Korean terms, that’s about 2 million won.
I took weapons like a spear, a crossbow, and a self-defense dagger.
In the game, I used a special rifle developed with alchemy magic technology instead of a crossbow, but since I couldn’t get that yet, I needed a temporary substitute.
Though I mainly used a spear, I also dealt with axes or swords in emergencies. Since I couldn’t use the acceleration from Blink to attack enemies, heavy weapons were sometimes quite useful.
Though, these weapons would likely be useless against a real mage.
Imagine teleporting around with a knife against someone in armor with an assault rifle.
If I were lucky, I could win instantly with teleportation, but once the enemy realized all I could do was teleport, they’d focus on defense, and my weak attack power would eventually lose in a battle of endurance.
‘But if I sell these in the city, they’ll all be money.’
Th i s w a s c o p i e d f r o m k i n g m t l .org
I had to endure with these crude weapons until I leveled up my Mana Leakage Syndrome and ‘awakened.’
In this world, there were no sword auras or aura blades, but Baek Yu-seol, with Mana Leakage Syndrome, could somewhat mimic them.
When I could wrap mana around my weapon and explosively release it, I would have decent attack power.
‘Hoo, how did my fate get so twisted.’
Having recovered enough, I put on my backpack and stood up.
Just then, a shout came from across the cliff.
“Is anyone there?!”
It was a small group of mages. If I had crossed the cliff normally, we would have met at the perfect timing, but reality didn’t align with me so conveniently.
I quickly got up, waving my spear and shouting.
“There’s someone here!!”
What happens after crossing that cliff, I don’t know. The system message would trigger, and the screen would transition.
If they left, I might get lost, so I couldn’t miss their carriage.
Murmuring.
I heard them whispering, but the distance was over 100 meters, making it impossible to understand.
Eventually, after some deliberation, a man who seemed to be the leader shouted.
“There’s no bridge nearby! Can you cross over?!”
I quickly responded.
“Yes! I’m coming now!”
* * *
Meanwhile, on the other side of the cliff.
“He says he’s coming over.”
The mage squad confirmed the boy on the other side through a telescope.
Given the considerable distance between the cliffs, crossing seemed impossible without knowing ‘Power Jump’ spells, a Night Position mage specialty.
“Only a knight of at least 3rd class could cross that distance…”
“Can that young boy really do it?”
While the mages expressed such doubts, the boy on the other side suddenly blurred, leaving afterimages as he appeared on top of a floating rock.
“W-what?”
“What was that? That’s not a Jump spell!”
“I-I don’t know. I’ve never seen that spell before…”
As the mages were flustered, a grey-robed mage sitting behind them answered.
“Blink.”
They hadn’t noticed before, but the grey-robed mage was a girl.
“Blink?”
“Yes, it’s Blink.”
“But…”
Blink was supposed to be an uncontrollable spell. It shouldn’t be possible to move in the desired direction and distance like that boy did.
‘What the heck is that?’
Blink had a cooldown, but whether it was due to calculating the distance, the boy was crossing the floating rocks very slowly.
“We can wait for that. It’s rare to see such a unique mage.”
However, the option to wait calmly soon vanished.
Two men in robes appeared behind the boy, casting magic circles in their palms.
The leader shouted urgently.
“Hey! It’s dangerous!”
Understanding the warning too late, Baek Yu-seol turned around.
Flare!
He saw a massive fireball flying towards him.
‘Damn it!’
Before he could curse inwardly, Baek Yu-seol leaped forward. The fireball collided with the floating rock he was standing on, causing it to fall.
[Blink]
“Ugh!”
Barely managing to Blink to the edge of an upper floating rock, Baek Yu-seol hung on and looked back.
‘What the heck are they…’
Come to think of it, there were seven pursuers initially. Two had fallen behind, leaving him to deal with five. He thought they had given up after not chasing for a while, but they pursued him this far.
Seeing them casting spells, they seemed enraged by their comrades’ deaths.
Zap!
A tingling sensation at the top of his head. Baek Yu-seol knew without looking.
A targeted spell, Thunderbolt.
‘One uses fire, and the other uses electricity?’
Though they were low-level spells a rookie mage would use, getting hit would paralyze him, causing him to fall to his death.
Thud!
He quickly jumped off the floating rock, but the 3-second Blink cooldown hadn’t fully reset yet.
“Damn it!”
Fortunately, he found something useful among the loot he had picked up. Rummaging through his backpack, he pulled out the wire the archer had used and quickly threw it upward, hooking it onto a floating rock.
Whirr!
Pressing the wire retrieval button, he was pulled towards the floating rock just as a fireball flew overhead, hitting another floating rock ahead.
Boom!
The mage’s aim wasn’t great, but it was still threatening. The floating rock hit by the fireball fell into the abyss below.
Whoosh…
Looking down at the chasm between the cliffs, it was so foggy, like clouds filling the gap, that he couldn’t see the bottom. Falling would mean disintegration rather than death.
[Blink]
From then on, Baek Yu-seol moved instinctively, in a state of no-mind.
He spun around, hanging from the floating rock, pretending to throw the wire to another rock, then Blinked.
Avoiding spells by returning to previously hooked floating rocks, he dodged one spell after another.
Yellow lightning chasing him like a snake, fire bullets disintegrating in the sky like rain.

Without defensive magic, he felt like he was performing a circus act, flying between floating rocks.
Fire arrows and chains of lightning brushed past his cheeks.

“Wow…”
Even amidst the urgency, the mages were impressed by the boy’s graceful movements, devoid of any hint of danger.
“Incredible… I’ve never seen a knight using such magic.”
“His movements are no joke.”
However.
“…Why isn’t he using defensive spells?”
That question was natural.
T h i s w a s c o p ie d f r om kingmtl. o r g
With such excellent magic skills, he should be able to easily block low-level spells from a rookie mage.
But did they know?
That the boy leaping among the floating rocks couldn’t use any magic except for Blink.
‘Damn it!’
Baek Yu-seol, reaching his limit, gritted his teeth. A streak of lightning started chasing him, chaining between the floating rocks.
Though low in destructive power, ‘Chain Lightning’ ensured multiple hits on enemies.
There was no way to avoid homing magic yet.
Zap!
‘It’s going to hit…!’
With Blink still on cooldown, he quickly shot the wire to another floating rock, but even if he threw himself into the air, the lightning would inevitably hit.
‘Am I going to die so meaninglessly?’
As the approaching Chain Lightning loomed, Baek Yu-seol gritted his teeth, and a grey-robed external mage, who had been observing the situation, stood up and cast a magic circle.
“W-what are you doing…”
“Move aside.”
The mages were perplexed.
The mages there were at most 2nd~3rd class, unable to cast long-range spells over 100 meters to save the boy.
To their knowledge, the grey-robed girl was also a 3rd-class mage.
Though impressive for her age, this was too much.
“The distance is too far. The mana may dissipate or the trajectory may falter, causing the spell to fail…”
However, the leader soon closed his mouth.
The girl’s fingertips conjured an ice spear enveloped in electricity.
‘T-two elements?!’
Boom!
Surprised, the spell collided with the Chain Lightning heading towards the boy, canceling both out.
“She calculated that trajectory…”
That was impressive, but what followed was even more astonishing.
Biting her lip, the girl swung her staff, using the lightning’s explosive rebound to shoot the ice spear at incredible speed.
Whoosh!
T h i s w a s c op i e d fro m ki n g m tl.o r g
The spear passed by Baek Yu-seol’s cheek.
Thunk!
It pierced the heart of one of the mages standing on the cliff opposite, shattering the rock behind him.
A terrifyingly powerful Ice Spear!
“W-what…!”
“Is she crazy…”
“Did she hit her target with just an Ice Spear from that distance?”
“Unbelievable…”
The other mage, seeing his comrade killed by a spell from over 100 meters away, panicked and canceled his spell, fleeing.
Thud! The grey-robed girl, apparently dizzy, collapsed, gasping for air, while the mages exchanged pale glances.
The boy leaping among floating rocks was impressive, but the girl, despite her young appearance, had incredible talent.
“Huff, huff…”

Eventually, Baek Yu-seol safely crossed the floating rocks and made it to the other side of the cliff, supported by the mages as he moved to the carriage.
“You’ve been through a lot. I’ve never seen a knight with such nimble movements.”
The leader approached first, extending a handshake to Baek Yu-seol.
T h i s w a s cop ied f r o m k i ngm tl .or g
“Ahem, so… where did you come from?”
“…Pardon?”
The question was so sudden that Baek Yu-seol replied in a confused voice.
“I came from over there.”
“No, I mean…”
His unexpected response broke the tense atmosphere, causing some mages to burst into laughter. The previously stoic girl also shook her shoulders slightly in amusement.
“No, I mean your affiliation.”
“Ah… I don’t have one.”
“Oh, a freelance knight? How about joining our mage squad?”
“No, actually… I’m still an aspiring mage.”
“What?”
“Really?”
The mages who had been watching the conversation genuinely expressed their amazement.
Baek Yu-seol’s movements were already at the level of a veteran.
Moreover, he had the agility to cross the rocky cliff.
“Hah, your skills are so great; I thought you were already a professional mage. My apologies.”
Hearing Baek Yu-seol’s words, the other mages began to murmur.
How could he still be an aspiring mage with such skills? They would be surprised to know that Blink was his only ability.
Baek Yu-seol turned to find the grey-robed mage who had helped him.
She was already sitting in a corner of the carriage, seemingly chewing on solitude.
“Thanks for the help. I almost died back there.”
The girl lifted her head. Her sharp jawline made it clear she was a girl, not a boy.
“…I didn’t do it for gratitude, so don’t mention it.”
Her tone was quite sharp.
‘Her voice is the most beautiful I’ve ever heard…’
Even her curt voice sounded refreshing, like she was singing an alien song.
‘Is her hair light blue?’
Thi s wa s c o p i e d f r om kin g m t l . o r g
Peeking through the grey robe, her sky-blue hair.
A mage with sky-blue hair using lightning and ice magic.
The combination seemed familiar, but he didn’t delve further.
It wasn’t polite to pry when she was hiding her face.
“Hoo…”
Sitting in the corner of the carriage, guided by another mage warrior, Baek Yu-seol weakly stared into space.
After completing one episode, another episode had already appeared.

The second episode wouldn’t be too difficult, but he was worried about what would come next.
‘How am I supposed to go through school life again at my age…’
