Magic Academy's Genius Blinker - Chapter 43
Chapter 43
Gourmet Club (2)
After the mock monster battle, Aiselle could walk with her head held high. There were hardly any students who ignored her now.
It didn’t matter that the Morf family was known as a traitor family.
In the end, the magical society is a place where everything is proven through magic.
Aiselle had demonstrated outstanding magic that no one could belittle her purely based on magical prowess.
Therefore, she could now confidently write about this.
[My Father]
Just because it was a magic school didn’t mean they only had magic classes. As a school that taught various aspects like mental, psychological, physical, artistic, and cultural activities, they took good care of their students in many ways.
Especially in the psychological aspect, they often dealt with topics like why they started learning magic, their mindset against Dark Mages, or their home environment. This time, the assignment was about ‘My Growth Environment.’
The person who had the most significant influence on Aiselle’s growth environment was undoubtedly her father.
In the past, writing about her father confidently might have made her feel self-conscious and afraid.
But now, there was nothing to worry about.
She was a more outstanding mage than anyone else, and she had a more insightful understanding than others.
So when she said:
“My father is not a traitor.”
“My father, Isaac Morf, was a great mage until the very end.”
She couldn’t help but smile as she placed her assignment on her desk.
Of course, she couldn’t relax entirely.
She knew her assignment contained provocative content. Other professors might pass it around.

Hence, she chose to challenge it.
The first step to clearing her father’s name.
It all started here.

‘…Anyway.’
Aiselle glanced over at Baek Yu-seol, who was lying far away, sleeping.
While everyone else had placed their assignments on their desks, he hadn’t brought anything.
Nothing at all.
She had no choice but to give him a slight hint, considering how much she owed him.
“Hey.”
“…Huh?”
Baek Yu-seol groggily turned his head, his eyes hollow. If it weren’t for Stella, he could have been mistaken for a zombie.
“Did you do the assignment?”
“Huh… What assignment?”
“They said you’ll get an F if you don’t turn it in today.”
“Is that so…”
With that, Baek Yu-seol collapsed back down.
And a while later.
“…What?”
Suddenly, he bolted upright, gritting his teeth and clutching his head.
“Argh, why do they give so many assignments when I’m already busy enough? Do they think I only take their class?”
“Well, I did tell you.”
Thinking back, Aiselle realized she had never seen Baek Yu-seol properly complete an assignment. She was starting to worry he might get an academic warning, so it seemed she did well by telling him.
As Aiselle returned to her seat, Baek Yu-seol hurriedly pulled out a piece of paper.
‘What was the assignment again?’
Fortunately, even such minor details were recorded in his glasses.
T hi s was c op ie d f r o m k i n g m tl. o r g
‘Write about your growth environment…?’
Hmm. He couldn’t remember much.
*Sigh…*
He had no choice but to scribble something down quickly, as class was about to start.
What came to mind was a song he used to listen to while living in Korea.
‘G.O.D, To Mother.’
A song that made South Korea cry in the 20th century. He hastily wrote “To Mother” as the title and scribbled down the song’s lyrics.
“Has everyone completed the assignment?”
“Yes!”
Hearing the students’ resounding reply, Baek Yu-seol quickly jotted down the remaining lyrics, barely finishing before turning it in.
“Phew…”
He hoped he’d written enough to avoid an F. Feeling relieved, he slumped back onto his desk.
Just because he submitted the assignment didn’t mean he planned to pay attention in class.

After the lecture, I coincidentally ended up on the same return route as Aiselle.
“Why are you following me?”
When I asked her, sticking closely beside me, her eyes flashed with irritation.
T h i s w as c o p ie d f r o m k in g mtl . o r g
“I have business in this direction.”
“Is that so.”
With her by my side, we navigated through twisting corridors, took an impromptu warp, and arrived at the same place.
Coincidentally, our destination was the same.
Even the bulletin board we wanted to check was the same.
[Club Promotion Board]
“Are you considering a club too? Haven’t joined one yet?”
“Why? What’s it to you? I can take my time.”
“Right. You don’t have any friends, do you?”
“Oh, that’s not true! I even received a club invitation the other day!”
Her words made me think of an event and I stared at Aiselle intently.
‘Hmm, Jeremie?’
But since she hadn’t joined Jeremie’s club, she must have been considering other clubs.
In that case, it didn’t matter.
[Traditional Sports for Mages! Soul Chess Club! Nothing better for brain exercise!]
[Join the Rune Writing Club. Study hard and get into university.]
[This is the original text club. Come join.]
[For those who love and cherish books! Join the Reading Club…!]
Stella had many clubs. But among them, not many allowed ‘special external activities,’ and joining them often came with unnecessary conditions.
One reason I left Kashif Deric alone was because of this. Though he was a fool, his family held significant influence, and he created a club that allowed for hunting and dungeon access.
If I could smoothly take over his club? I’d kill two birds with one stone.
But that was on hold. Taking over a senior’s club abruptly wasn’t easy and would attract a lot of attention. This was a last resort.
‘First…’
I checked the clubs that involved the main characters.
Hong Bi-yeon, Red Hawk Club.
Jeremie, Scalven Club.
Hae Wonryang, Hanaban Research Club.
Flame, Healing Camp Club.
Aiselle, Unaffiliated.
Most of them belonged to large clubs led by second and third-year students. Only Jeremie had managed to become the president of the Scalven Club.
None of these clubs appealed to me.
First-year students could create clubs too, but no one would join late formations, and it would be even harder to get special external activity approval.
“Hey. Don’t you have any impressive connections?”
She looked genuinely baffled.
“…Don’t you know who I am?”
“Aiselle, right.”
“Well, that’s true… but…”
She sighed deeply. “Ask someone who can actually help you…”
“You’re quite popular lately.”
“Ahem, really?”
Th i s w a s c op i ed fr o m k i n gm t l . o r g
It wasn’t an empty compliment. Perhaps because she had shown such beautiful magic, people started viewing her more favorably without her behaving any differently. Even among commoners, some students admired Aiselle.
“Still, I’m not at the level to create a club. And that goes for you too, doesn’t it?”
“True.”
Sigh, what should I do?
While I was lost in thought, someone approached.
Turning slightly, I saw Ma Yuseong standing there with a friendly smile. He spoke in a gentle voice.
“Yu-seol, did your class end?”
“Yeah. Why?”
“I watched the mock battle. It was impressive. And I heard you already led a Necromancer hunt at our age?”
“I’m quite something.”
“Looks like you have a ‘different way of thinking’ from others.”

Flinch
His sharp question made me twitch slightly.
“Do you often think deeply like that?”
“…I have nothing to do on weekends, and as you know, I’m a commoner, so I always think of ways to stand out more.”
“I see. You use your time quite productively. Different from me.”
He said that with a somewhat bitter smile.
“I do spend my weekends productively.”
Then, I subtly asked about something I had been wondering.
“Since you asked, I’ll ask formally. What do you usually do on weekends?”
He replied with an awkward smile.
“Study.”
“Thanks for the formal answer to a formal question.”
Ma Yuseong, flustered, waved his hands in the air. It was the first time I’d seen such a side of him.
T his wa s c opi e d f r o m k in g m t l . o rg
“No, really. I studied and… trained.”
What? Trained?
His words made me freeze and look directly into his eyes.
“You… don’t usually do that, do you?”
“No. But lately, I’ve been doing it.”
Now that I think about it, Ma Yuseong, who used to roam around after school, wasn’t seen much lately.
“I didn’t realize, but I really hate losing.”
Something was off. Ma Yuseong was supposed to start training much later, but a variable had already appeared.
‘What could it be?’
Aiselle resolved my curiosity faster than expected.
“Dungeon practice. Since then, he seems particularly competitive.”
“Right. If you hadn’t intervened back then, I wouldn’t be able to hold my head high in front of Hae Wonryang. I made fun of him every day.”
Finally, it made sense.
Originally, Ma Yuseong wouldn’t have encountered Hae Wonryang alone during dungeon practice.
Ma Yuseong would have joined Flame midway, and if he did face Hae Wonryang, it would be 2-on-1, securing an easy victory, or avoiding the fight altogether.
But with Baek Yu-seol’s intervention, Flame was tied up, and Ma Yuseong faced Hae Wonryang alone.
T h i s w a s c o p i e d fr o m k i n g m t l . o r g
‘So Hae Wonryang’s condition was because of this?’
2-on-1 could have worked, but a thoroughly prepared Hae Wonryang lost 1-on-1, which must have shaken him deeply.
But it wasn’t a bad thing.
No, it was an excellent sign.
T h is w a s c o p i ed f r o m kin g mt l . o r g
Hae Wonryang, being competitive, would train himself more rigorously, and Ma Yuseong starting his training years earlier meant a closer possible happy ending.
‘Unlike a half-baked person like me, Ma Yuseong and Hae Wonryang are future pivotal figures.’
If they could grow stronger earlier than expected, it was more than excellent.
Furthermore, Hong Bi-yeon and Aiselle were growing faster than in the original game, which was positive enough to make him smile.
“And, I also lost to you, Yu-seol. So, I’ve been working hard recently.”
“What? When did you lose to me?”
“Huh? During the mock battle, your team scored higher.”
“Did we?”
I hadn’t even noticed.
“Thanks to you. It’s been very helpful.”
“Is that so…”
I hardly understood what that kid was saying.
“Your training motivation is unique. Most people wouldn’t bow their heads after one defeat.”
“I would. But you seem different.”
“You’re quite annoying.”
“I get that a lot.”
“And stop calling me ‘Lady.'”
Aiselle said, stepping back.
“By the way, Yu-seol, are you joining a club? Haven’t you joined one yet?”
He pointed outside.
It was spring.
Cherry blossoms were in full bloom, scattering love stories in the air.
Except for me.
As the freshmen were starting to find their clubs, my and Aiselle’s situation was quite unusual.
Joining late didn’t matter much. The ‘club performance evaluation’ was still far off.
Most students joined early to socialize or earn points through external activities.
“Yes.”
“Then join the same club with me? I haven’t joined one yet.”
“What club?”
Surprising. In the original game, he mostly worked alone.
Ma Yuseong pointed at several bulletin boards.
“How about Soul Chess, the mages’ brain sport? I like brain games. There’s also the Logic Club, and the Puzzle Club.”
Soul Chess. I had once played it to the championship level. To conquer some of the Progenitor Mage’s dungeons, I had to beat enemies in Soul Chess.
But joining a club like that would prevent me from getting special external activity approval. So I made an excuse.
“I hate sitting and using my brain.”
T h is w a s c opi e d f r o m ki n g m t l .o r g
“You? Really?”
Aiselle looked at me with a shocked expression.
“Really? Then how about sports? There’s soccer and basketball… Or how about ‘League of Spirit’?”
League of Spirit. A sport representing the magical world, a dream for battle mages… but still a sport.
To stop the [Episode] from happening in the League of Spirit club, I might consider joining later, but that’s for the future.
“Well, I’m thinking of joining a more productive club.”
“Hmm…”
I thought he’d get bored and leave after rejecting so many suggestions, but Ma Yuseong didn’t give up.
“What kind of club are you looking for? I’ll match it to your preferences.”
His confident tone, as if willing to grant any wish, made me playful.
“A club with few people, no private meetings, guaranteed insurance, cheese cutlets for lunch every day, freedom for external activities, respect for individual activities, and special external approvals.”
“Such a club doesn’t exist.”
Of course not. I was just joking.
However,
“Really? Then… should I create such a club for you?”
“What?”
Unlike my joke, Ma Yuseong’s words had a hint of sincerity, making me wide-eyed.
