Chapter 47
Epilogue of Unscientific Faith
***
The Evilus organization, having taken control of Baphomet Corporation, immediately detained the executives, employees, and demon worshipers, confiscating all their documents as if they were some kind of law enforcement agency.
Had this been the old Baphomet Corporation, they might have fought back using the power they gained by offering their souls to demons. But for some reason, they didn’t resist at all this time—not even a hint of defiance. Instead, they responded as if something was missing inside them.
“What the hell? These guys are supposed to be demon worshippers, but they’re acting like mental patients?”
“Maybe it’s because of what Eight did. Think that might be the reason?”
“You’re saying it wasn’t a joke? That he actually neutralized them from a distance…?”
As the executives murmured in awe at Eight’s accomplishment, heroes and police from B City, who had arrived late, began to storm in.
Faced with the rare sight of a villain organization attacking a major corporation, their faces lit up as they prepared to unleash their powers.
“That’s far enough! You villain scum!”

“Anyone moving is a villain! Anyone not moving is a well-trained villain!”
As the heroes began subduing and arresting the regular combatants one by one, Galm turned to look at Lize.
Lize, who had been on a phone call with someone, trembled with humiliation before stepping forward and shouting loudly.
“What’s all this commotion about?”
“Anyone moving is a villain, as I said—!”
“Hey, hey—! You crazy idiot! That’s the CEO of Baphomet Corporation!”
“What? Oh, um. Ma’am, please come with us. We’re here to rescue you—”
“I really don’t like repeating myself. What exactly is all this commotion?”
Hearing Lize’s words, the heroes of B City tilted their heads in confusion as if they didn’t understand what she was talking about.
But Lize, who had already made her arrangements, exploded with anger and lashed out at the heroes.
“We are currently conducting a villain response drill. And you dare to cause such a commotion?”
T his w a s c o pied f r o m k i n g m t l .o r g
“What? A… a drill?”
“I said we’re conducting a villain response drill. And you’re arresting our valuable employees? Are you out of your mind? We’ll be filing a formal complaint.”

At the mention of a complaint, the heroes quickly released the regular combatants they had arrested. The regular combatants rotated their wrists, glaring at the heroes with resentment. They had quickly grasped the situation and were now playing along.
The Baphomet Corporation CEO’s words, the completely non-villain-like reactions from the combatants, and the fact that B City had never dealt with a villain attack—all of this left the heroes thoroughly confused.
In the end, the heroes and police, who had been deployed, bowed their heads and quietly left the building.

“…We apologize. We’ll make sure to send a formal apology later, so please reconsider filing that complaint.”
“No need. I don’t want to see your faces for even a second longer. Now, leave.”
“Understood…”
After the heroes and villains had cleared out, Galm whistled in admiration as he looked at Lize.
“Cool as a cucumber. Is it because you’ve already devoured so many humans?”
Lize didn’t respond to Galm’s comment and instead lifted her phone to her ear once again. As she held it to her ear, she cautiously spoke.
“…It’s been handled. Now, as promised—”
[Yes. Baphomet Corporation is yours to manage.]
“Thank you…”
[However, don’t think for a moment that we will forget how you brainwashed my subordinates and dared to attack my territory. This is a sin you will carry for the rest of your life.]
“I will remember that…”
Lize stared blankly at the phone as the call ended, letting out a few hollow breaths before looking around. The Baphomet Corporation—a millennium-old kingdom that once boasted power under the might of a demon—had crumbled so easily.
If only they had fought back with full force. But instead, they were abandoned by the demon for reasons she couldn’t understand, unable to put up any real resistance…
Even now, it was hard to believe. The sound of the demon’s scream, filled with pain and shock. And those incomprehensible words that followed.
‘What did you touch…?’
Lize cautiously looked at Galm. He looked like a beast and spoke like the most ignorant brute, so maybe he would be easy to get information out of.
Adopting a slightly feigned tone, Lize carefully opened her mouth as she looked at the beast.
“…There’s something I’m curious about.”
“What is it?”
“Now that I’m under your command… I’m practically a comrade, right?”
“If the boss said so, then I guess that’s the case.”
“Then I should be able to know… Who was it that I touched?”
Hearing this, Galm grinned and answered.
“The Scientist.”
“The… Scientist?”
“Yeah. Our proud Scientist.”
But after hearing Galm’s answer, Lize could only tilt her head in confusion. A Scientist? This entire mess happened because she messed with a mere Scientist?
She couldn’t understand it at all, from beginning to end.
Even though she had offered her soul to a demon. She just couldn’t comprehend it.

Unlike Z City, which had completely lost its functionality as a city, B City was still operating fully, and Baphomet Corporation, which controlled B City, wasn’t something that could be easily devoured like Omega Industries.
T h i s was c o pi e d f r om k in gm t l . o r g
If Z City and Omega Industries were like the chicken ribs that didn’t provide much benefit even if devoured, B City could be considered a mountain of prime meat that would burst your stomach if you tried to swallow it whole.
T hi s was cop i e d f ro m k i n g m t l . o r g
If you got greedy and tried to devour B City in one gulp? You’d find yourself waddling with a full belly, only to face an all-out assault from other cities, as Regalia had explained.
“It’s not that I’m underestimating you; it’s just that this is more reasonable and efficient. I hope you understand.”
“Yes, well, I don’t really care how you handle Baphomet.”
“…Really? You won’t be upset later, will you?”
“I don’t have the luxury to be upset. I’ve found something interesting to play with.”
“Something interesting to play with…? Scientist, what is it? Could you give me a hint…?”
Ignoring Regalia’s trailing words, I returned to the lab. The Devil’s Right Hand, preserved in a formalin solution, greeted me.
This item was obtained from the Apostle of Baphomet. Since acquiring it, my focus had been entirely on this right hand.
‘Baphomet Corporation or whatever… I just don’t have the time to care about that.’
Look at this Devil’s Right Hand. Galm was satisfied just because he gained the ability to ignore distance, but as a Scientist, I couldn’t think the same way as a brute beast.
I traced the origin of this right hand. Since it’s the Devil’s Right Hand, there must be a demon who owned it, right?
As I searched beyond dimensions for the owner of the hand, I found a demon hiding in some obscure corner. Realizing my approach, the demon started to struggle and flee.
─!@$@^#^$%$
‘What is it saying?’
This, too, was a subject of research. The ecology of an interdimensional being known as a demon. It’s a topic that could lead to multiple research papers, even on Earth. With this, I might even earn a doctorate.
Of course, a doctorate doesn’t matter much to me now, since the possibility of returning to Earth still seems distant. But whether there’s a reward or not, the fundamental desire of a Scientist remains unwavering.
Curiosity. The desire to uncover the secrets of the world has never disappeared, even after I arrived in this world.
‘Ah—I get it now. This hand doesn’t just ignore distance…’
This is why I can’t stop researching. Discovering something new is incredibly enjoyable, and being the first to uncover a secret allows you to feel a sense of superiority as if you’re standing above billions of people on Earth.
The act of self-realization and self-satisfaction at the same time. As I researched the Devil’s Hand, I slowly began to understand more about the demon. Then, a saying from Earth suddenly came to mind.
─When you gaze long into the abyss, the abyss also gazes into you.
I worried if my research into the demon might make me become one, but I quickly shook off that concern.
‘I’m still fine, right? I can do more.’
And more importantly—
If it’s for the truth, I don’t mind becoming a demon.
That’s what it means to be a Scientist.

Early in the morning.
After spending the night on research, I decided it was time to take a nap and stepped into the hallway. Just as I entered the corridor, I bumped into Regalia, who was accompanied by several secretaries.
“Scientist. Just the person I was looking for.”
“Boss? Why are you here…?”
T h i s w a s co p i ed fro m ki n g m tl . o r g
“I need something. Could you give me some of that stamina enhancer?”
At her request, my expression stiffened slightly.
“If you drink that, you won’t grow any taller.”
“Can’t be helped if I don’t. I’m just too busy right now. I don’t think I’ll be able to sleep for the next week.”
This w as c o p i e d f r o m k i ng m t l . o r g
“…In that case, there’s no helping it.”
It’s something that allows a grown man to stay awake for three days and nights without issue, but no item only has beneficial effects. All things have side effects.
The stamina enhancer was no exception. While there were no problems when an adult man drank it, it had the downside of using up even the energy meant for growth if consumed by a child. Even adults who overused it would likely face significant issues.
Of course, I understood that this was a busy time. There were casualties caused by villains in E City, so she had to comfort the victims and hold funerals. And since B City was as large as E City, she was probably burdened with the aftermath as well.
“Take care of yourself, Boss.”
“Ah—Thanks for the concern. Just make sure you don’t cause any trouble.”
“Haha—What trouble would I cause?”
T his wa s c op i e d f r o m k i ng mt l . org
With a hollow laugh, I handed the stamina enhancer to the Boss, who downed it in one gulp before hurrying off.
As she left, Vira quietly muttered.
“The young lady must be having a hard time. Her birthday is soon, and she won’t even get to celebrate.”
“…Pardon? What did you say?”
“Um? I said her birthday is soon, and she won’t even get to celebrate it. Don’t tell me you didn’t know?”
“Of course I didn’t…”
“Hey—Eight. You did prepare a gift, right?”
I shook my head.
Vira looked at me in disbelief.
T hi s w a s co p i e d f r o m k i n gm t l . o rg
But what could I do? No one had told me about the Boss’s birthday. Not even the Boss herself.
‘A birthday gift, huh…’
Thinking it might be a bit late to prepare one now, I quietly downed a stamina enhancer and returned to the lab.
Who has time to sleep?
The Boss is working hard too.
And so, I prepared a birthday gift for the Boss. Something that would leave her utterly surprised.
